Mullinavat are Intermediate Champions

In a humdinger of a final Mullinavat just about had the edge over St Patricks Ballyraggett and ran out 0-17 to 0-14 winners in the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Final played before a crowd of almost 5,000 in Nowlan Park on Sunday. The quality of point taking and striking was first class right throughout and the result was in doubt up to the final whistle. Mullinavat held a slender lead 0-8 to 0-7 at the break and the sides were level within a minute of the restart. They were still level 0-14 to 0-14 entering the last 7 minutes but three unanswered points in the closing stages saw the Mullinavat side home. They now play Coill Dubh, the Kildare Senior Champions, in the AIB leinster Club Intermediate semi-final in Newbridge next Sunday. (From kilkenny G.A.A. website)
