Minor Hurling

Mullinavat minor hurling team welcomed Conahy Shamrocks to Mullinavat last Monday night for a round of the minor hurling league.  These teams had met at under 16 level last week and this resulted in a big win for the conahy boys.  The first half of this encounter saw both team’s swoped scores and such was the evenness of both sides that they were level at half time.  The second half followed the same pattern but with Mark Mansfield coming more into the game and good points from Pat Mulhearn and John Walsh Mullinavat edged clear to win on a score line of 1-14 to 1-9.  One of the turning points of the game was a brilliant save by Mullinavat goalkeeper Liam Walsh when he got down low to save a certain goal and deflect the ball out for a sixty five.  The two corner backs of Conor Duggan and Mickey Jones never gave their opponents an inch.  With Thomas and Simon Aylward dominant at Full Back and Centre Back this guaranteed plenty ball for the forward division.  Another feature of this team was Darren Water’s pace and his willingness to win and carry ball at the Conahy defence at every opportunity.
So a good win for the Vat lads.  Keep up the good work as these are the future of the club.
