All County Junior Hurling League

Mullinavat 2-15 Shamrocks 1-10

Match Report by John Dunphy P.R.O.

Mullinavat junior hurlers opened their campaign with a good win over Shamrocks in the All County Junior league played under lights in Piltown.  Shamrocks opened the scoring with two pointed frees but Mullinavat replied quickly with points to gain parity and when John Reade recorded his second point to give Mullinavat the lead, which they maintained to the end.

Further good play by Mullinavat resulted in an additional four points from play and a Jamie Fennelly goal on the stroke of half time leaving Mullinavat leading 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.

Shamrocks opened brightly in the second half with two points from play but again Mullinavat reeled off a number of well taken scores from play which was a very pleasing aspect of their performance. Mullinavat conceded a goal to reduce the gap but David Murphy was on the end of a good Mullinavat move to goal and put the issue beyond doubt. Mullinavat management team will be pleased with the spread of scores especially from play and the elimination of the concession of scores from frees in the second half.
